The Essentials of Effective Coaching

Sheila Buechler has spent years – first providing consulting services to business, and now coaching individuals – working with bright, successful people who are dealing with change.

Over time, she has identified six characteristics of her practice that have particularly helped her clients achieve results. This combination is unique to LaunchBox, and key to Sheila’s approach to coaching. We’ll let her tell you about it:

Business saavy and experience
Having a trusted advisor and coach with a deep understanding of leadership and business accelerates your growth, enhances your experience and provides invaluable context in decision making.

Direct
Being able to see or sense something about your experience that you don’t is a critical quality in a coach. Even more important is being able to communicate that information to you clearly and directly, so you can make the most of it.

Challenging
It’s a coach’s job to challenge your assumptions, to question why you think and feel the way you do, and to push you to think bigger, grow and follow through on what you say you’ll do.

Curious
What drives you? Why do you keep returning to certain behaviors? Being curious is all part of helping you see where you are on your journey – so you can keep moving forward.

Goal-oriented
You’ll move forward fast when you work closely with your coach to set a goal for each session and then tackle it together.

Accountable

Once you’ve committed to doing something on your path to change, you need a coach who will hold you accountable for that new commitment, to get the traction you need.

Championing
At the end of the day, you need a coach who believes in you – one who questions and challenges you, yes, but who ultimately has complete confidence in your ability to change your life.
